30 Day Clothing Challenge~ Day 24: Your Favorite Pair of Shoes

Favorite pair of shoes? Just one pair? We'll just have to settle for two then. At least I've got a special weakness for boots, which makes this slightly easier. I just bought my Docs a few months ago, and so far it's one of the smartest purchases I've ever made. They look great and they're going to hold up for a very long time. I wear them with everything I can, though I've let up now that summer is here. My feet can only take so much! My winklepickers on the other hand, aren't real leather, and I wish the buckles were silver, but they were a thrift store find and I couldn't pass them up. They're harder to match to my outfits and silver jewelry, but I just love pointy boots.

I've only got about a week left of school till summer break which is sort of a relief. I actually enjoy school, but this late in the year I'm reaching my limit. I need my sleep.... I'm compensating for the tiredness by dressing up even more apparently. It makes me feel a little better ^^ And I attempted to do something different with my hair by parting it in the middle and covering my undercut.

I love this little hat <3

Well the last of my bullar (Swedish cinnamon buns) just came out of the oven so I'm off to munch on those and finish watching Amadeus. (I love this movie...) I am unashamedly lazy and don't plan on moving from my bed until dinner time at least. Considering I've been roped into Graduation Band tomorrow, and will have to play Pomp and Circumstance over and over again until my lips fall off, I think I deserve it.

Alas, a Tragedy

Today I experienced a Goth's worst nightmare first-hand. My gorgeous boots, my only pair of long combat boots broke. I knew they weren't good quality when I bought them a year and a half ago, but I was hoping they would last a little bit longer... My poor babies.

Unfortunately, there's no way to fix that. And I wear these boots with everything! My plan now is to just save up for those Doc Martens I've wanted for a while. They'll hold up forever because they're real leather and will be a good investment. After I buy the longer black ones I'll probably get a pair of shorter ones in red, white, tartan, or black with flowers. Problem is, that until I have the money to buy a pair I'll have to go boot-less.

We went out today to go to get some supplies at Joanns and then had lunch. So here's the outfit of the day with a vest I got for Xmas. My hair is really starting to fade out and my blond roots are coming in so I need to re-dye it soon. I'll go black this time instead of dark brown and I think I'll cut my hair shorter. Perhaps a chin length bob. I'm also considering going back to my v fringe. As much as I like straight bangs I sort of miss my widow's peak.

Lately, I seem to be favoring less 'feminine' outfits. I love dresses and skirts, but recently it's seemed like more of a hassle to wear them and better to just pair my black jeans with interesting vests or jackets. Part of the reason might be because it's a little chillier (I say a little because down here in the south we get about one week of cold weather...) and layered tights are a pain to get on and off, but really I think I'm just at a point where my tastes are leaning away from my more romantic/frilly things. In a few months I'm sure I'll be donning my lace gloves, favorite skirt, and waistcoat again, but for now I'll be pulling other things out of my wardrobe.

Actually, if someone decides to bestow upon me the top hat or bowler I so desperately want it'll happen sooner. I think that maybe I'm bored of my victorian-esque clothes simply because I've worn the same outfits too many times. I need a little variety.

On another note, my plan to buy those Doc Martens has already been sabotaged by this Sherlock shirt. As soon as I saw the Infamous Blujay wearing it via Tumblr I had to have it. It's perfect for the days Casual Goth makes an appearance.

Cake and Boots

 It's my BIRTHDAY!

I know it's been a while since I last posted something....sorry! I've been so wrapped up in school work I can't think straight. Today though, I'm pushing my homework to the side to enjoy my birthday properly. I'm turning 16 today! I suppose this is kind of a big deal, but throwing huge parties are not my thing. Instead, we went out shopping and I got a lovely pair of boots on top of my other presents. My expensive present is going to be Halloween Horror Nights as usual so I'll have to wait another 3 weeks for that.

Here's my birthday haul.

There's a giant eyeshadow palette, an Ankh pendant, a black treble clef necklace, two new Batman Comics, The Night Circus, Van Helsing, The Cure pins, and Arkham Asylum for PS3.

Then we went shopping which resulted in this.

I would prefer it if the boots had silver instead of gold buckles, but I liked them too much to pass them up for $10. I'm going to see if I can get them silver somehow though I'm not confident I'll actually be able to.

We also went by the record store, but unfortunately left empty-handed because the prices were too high.

You have no idea how much I wanted this ^^

This was a giant compilation and I just about died when I saw the price...

I really love this album. I can't stand any of the industrial stuff that came afterwards >.<

So that's about it. We're going to go out and eat Thai later which will be awesome because the owner loves us and will probably let us stay after hours. Chances are he'll take out the guitar and I'll get a few special dishes for my birthday.

Two personal posts in a row? Geez, I'm just spamming you with my personal life aren't I? I'll have something else up soon. Who needs essays anyway?  ^^

Sophistique Noir Theme~ Bows

I almost didn't do this one because I figured I wasn't going anywhere and didn't want to get all dolled up for a blog post ^^ My eyes are enjoying the summer break from makeup. However, it turned out a friend who moved to New York was back in town for a few days and wanted to meet us for dinner. So I pulled out a few bows and got to picture taking!

For my hair I stole a bow off of that cute lil' undead bunny I bought. I also rummaged around a bit and managed to find the spiked bow belt I got at Goodwill. I had been having problems with it because the little pegs were too small for the holes to keep closed and it kept popping open at embarrassing times. Like walking through the halls at school... I was going to replace the pegs with better ones but instead I was lazy and found some Velcro in the sewing cabinet. A few strategically placed squares, and voila! It doesn't snap open every time I sit down...

fickle me changed from a shirt to a tanktop and bolero ^^

I was browsing Pinterest and found this hair idea that fits in very nicely with the bow theme. If I had longer hair I would try this for sure.

30 Day Clothing Challenge~Day 3: A Piece of Clothing or Jewelry that was a Gift.

This was actually a bit difficult. I just tore apart my closet trying to find something my parents or I hadn't bought while shopping. Gift-wise I tend to ask for books, movies, video games, etc. Plus, my memory is so horrible I could barely remember where I got half of my closet!

This dress was a present from a friend. she wore it once, but she decided it didn't fit her style and handed it over to the first person that wanted it. Lucky me! It's affectionately referred to as "The Trash Bag Dress" because of the shiny black material it's made out of. I haven't had a chance to wear it yet. As pretty as it is, it sits rather high up and I'm afraid it gives that unfortunate 'I'm pregnant' look. I'm trying to figure out how I can fix that, but it might just be being my paranoid self. Eventually, I'll get some use out of it ^^

Then I have my my converse boots. Years ago, I remember begging my parents to get me these for Christmas. Nowadays I'm more of a 'black leather boots' kind of gal, but I still wear these from time to time.

I think the straps are a nice touch.

By the way, my preview option on Blogger doesn't seem to be working. I just get the spinning gears and have to actually publish the post to view it. This is extremely annoying because I like to see how they look before-hand. Is it happening to anyone else?

Etsy Feature~ Spooky Cute Shoes

I'm here with my latest Etsy discovery! Emandsprout has the most adorable little shoes ever! Instead of talking about them, let me just spam you with pictures.

I think we've all figured out I enjoy having bats on my feet.
Dracula flats anyone?
Or Frankenstein?
Or you could get both!
These felt more...summery...to me. What with the flowers and all.
All of the shoes are about $25. I can't tell you exactly how they fit because I blew all my money in Sweden, but if you really need to know you can always contact the shop. I absolutely love how friendly and helpful people are on Etsy. (Of course, they are trying to sell you something so they should be polite, but you'd be surprised at the number of rude people I've dealt with on Ebay.) I'm going to purchase at least one pair of these myself once I get a little bit of money.

In the Land of the Swedes~ Mini Haul

Taking a break in the midst of my trip to bring you some pics of things I've found here. We went into Stockholm and ohhh boy could I spend a long time shopping here. I love being in cities so much because there's more of a chance to see other spookily-inclined people. The girl with the electric blue dreads nearly got herself a compliment from me, but I'm too self-conscious about my American accented Swedish. I saw a few metal heads, a possible punk, and a girl who's style was a mix of visual kei and cybergoth.

The first place we went shopping was literally the coolest shoe store I have ever been to. (I live an alternative fashion deprived life.)

There were so many stompy boots...

My dad nearly bought this hat. I'm working on convincing him.

I need a pair of Dr. Martens so badly.

That's a little much even for me XD

The place was a Goth's shoe wonderland. *sigh* If only I had more money. Here's the link to the shop. Unfortunately they don't have nearly as many on the website as in the actual store.

Next, we went to a place called Shock. It had your typical brand name alternative clothing lining the walls. (Except jeans were $100 instead of $30. Eek...) It never ceases to amaze me how much more expensive clothes are in Sweden. Or how much more expensive everything is. It's a bit of a culture shock. (Just like the fact you have to pay for public toilets)

However I do enough thrifting that I have no qualms about buying brand name stuff. I ended up getting a few things I had never seen before. The first one is a little vest from Too Fast.

Enhanced so you can actually see the pattern. Which is why the floor is yellow ^^

About $30

I've been looking for some sort of bag. it's really annoying to never have any place to put your phone or money when you go out. So when I saw this little cutie from Poizon Industries I snatched it up. It's small enough not to bother me and just plain adorable.

$20 I think?

On the way out I spotted a display with a few "Luv Bunnies" by Dead Cute Plush Co. I freaked out and refused to let go of the red one. And so, I bought a dead bunny.

I couldn't leave it behind! It was $30 or so.

The hair bows, necklace, and bracelet on it's shoulder all come off if I want to wear them ^^

We were due to have dinner at my uncle's apartment so we had to leave, but on the way we spotted this.

I couldn't resist. I've never seen a vintage clothes store that big. I could have spent a day in there. We were pressed for time so I only got five minutes, but it was worth it and we'll definitely be going back.

Here's a bonus pic of me in a top hat.

If I only could have fit this in a suitcase...it was $35!

Well, that's it for now. Until next time~

Black and Red Week Day 6~ Zombie shirt, Bracelet, and Fishnets

The finale is here everyone! The submissions have been lots of fun to look at and its been even more fun participating. My last little outfit for you is more casual fun. We had a party for the little middle school bandlings joining next year and this is what I wore. Nothing too scary ;) I was still wearing it at midnight so I'm using it as today's submission.

My zombie killing shirt and striped skirt were perfect for a night of silly games and conversation. I didn't think this was quite enough red though, so my beloved fishnets made an appearance.

I love layering fishnets so it would probably be a good idea to pick up a few more pairs. But really, $10 for a pair of tights?? It's slightly irritating when you have no money and a million adorable things to buy ^^

I just made this bracelet! We went by Goodwill and there was this tiny little kids belt in Tartan. I was disappointed until I realized I could cut it and just use it as a bracelet :)

Well that's the conclusion of Red and Black Week. It's been a blast. I'll leave you with a picture of something I'm actually wearing today. My treasured Monty Python and the Holy Grail bunny slippers ^^

Black and Red Week Day 5~ Skirt, Choker, and Wishlist

Today was the last day of school! *jumps up and down like a demented bunny* That means I can catch up on SLEEP.

Since today was a celebratory day and its Red and Black Week I decided to have fun with my outfit and forget about being comfortable for the day. Fashion is worth a few sacrifices after all!

I curled my bangs a bit today.

I love this outfit so much! The corset/waistcoat I got off of Ebay. The boning IS plastic, which I regret to some degree, but it was extraordinarily cheap and good quality. I'm saving up my money so that I can buy some proper corsets, but considering the high school budget and lack of a job I'm not sure how long it'll take. The skirt is from the same thrift store haul as yesterday's jacket. The choker was purchased off of Etsy for $10 and I almost picked a purple ribbon so I got lucky didn't I?

I love tartan so much. Its a favorite pattern of mine. This skirt is actually slightly see-through. There's a second red mini-skirt underneath, but I still feel a bit awkward sitting down. I hate it when it rides up too far. I prefer wearing some kind of tights with this skirt,  but with summer here that's out of the question.

Here are some red and black things I'm coveting at the moment.

While I adore Heavy Red they're out of my price range.
Lately I've realized just how much I need a capelet.
This shrug is one of many lovely creations by lovechildboudoir on Etsy
Military styled jackets and dresses steal my heart <3
More tartan. I'm in desperate search of a handbag.
This picture explains all.
These would be difficult to incorporate into my wardrobe but I do love them.
I want these shoes for my Grell costume and myself <3
Stripes!

We're almost done everyone! We must persevere! I'm going to miss this when its over. We should have theme weeks more often ^^
