My Hair Just Keeps Disappearing

Well I've chopped my hair off again! This time I went shorter too. Watch out, I'll have a pixie cut and then a mohawk before you know it. But here! Have some pretentious Facebook photos.

My months seem to be getting busier and busier. I've joined the community orchestra, a club that volunteers around town, and I've started writing book reviews for my library. On top of that, I'm stressing to get back to my cosplay, which I haven't been able to work on since the move (and I've been thinking that my mask is too big. I do hope I won't have to redo it). So I apologize for being so inactive on here. I'm certain things will calm down soon and I'll get back to my normal routine. Today I'll throw some more outfit pictures at you and perhaps next time I'll have something with a bit more substance.

I found this dress while thrifting and couldn't decide if it was weird or cool.
The front is lolita-esque though you can't see it
I keep returning to this jacket because well...it's cold!

Huge, warm, comfortable jackets for the win.

Hey look, I Faked a Deathhawk.

Granted, a very tiny little deathhawk (Like, the tiniest one in existence), but at least it's reasonably fluffy. Though, a bit droopy at the top because I could not for the life of me get it to stand straight. And once I hit the Florida humidity there was no way my hair was surviving. I'm afraid the pics don't quite do it justice either.

You've all seen this outfit before. It's pretty typical casual for me.
Though my ankh has been eaten by my scarf in these XD

Honestly, this was the most fun I've had with my hair in a while. I had to pin back the side of hair that I still have and more than a few bobby pins died along the way. I also had to tease the life out of it and use half a gallon of hairspray to get it to stand, but it was worth it. Having a deathhawk (A real one) is one of the things I'm absolutely going to do at some point. I'm a sucker for big hair and they're just so...fluffy.

The thing that made this even more fun was my blue roots. I tried to touch up my hair with some  blue-black color last weekend, but my blonde roots only absorbed the blue. I laughed about it for a while and was going to fix them, but my friends all loved it and said it looked intentional. I'll get a picture for next time because the blue only shows in certain lights and you can't see it here.

Pretty flat after a day of school though

Here's a video that shows you what it looks like from all angles. I didn't actually record this for you guys...I was checking my hair outside before the bus came so that's why it's a bit derpy XD But hey, it came in handy.

All Dressed Up with Nowhere to Go

Well, except school that is. I just woke up with this inexplicable urge to get really dressed up today, no occasion necessary. Of course, it would be nice to have such an occasion, but I'll make due with classes. And the shallow want of compliments from my wonderful friends. I've only worn this jacket once so I thought it was time to dig it out of my closet and pair it with my favorite (and only)  poofy dress.  I don't go over the top a lot because let's face it, the more goth you look, the more attention you're going to get, positive and negative. I've always been a reserved person, and I don't really appreciate a lot of said attention, but over the years I've grown a thick skin and come to appreciate compliments even more when they're given.  So on occasion, I put on a brave face and wear something really fun because you shouldn't let people's opinions stop you from wearing what you like.

I have no idea why I don't wear this jacket more.

If you're wondering if my hair looks a little floofier than normal that's because I crimped it yesterday, and now have this lovely texture left over to work with. I love how malleable my normally pin straight and uncooperative hair became after I crimped it so you can expect to see my hair like this more often.

I'm not sure if you can tell, but I have a small pustule just on the edge of my nose piercing. When it first popped up I fell into complete despair because my mom told me when I got my piercing that if it became infected I would be paying for antibiotics, and trust me when I say I don't have that kind of money. I did some research though and to my utter relief it turned out it was hypertrophic scarring. Which made perfect sense because I had snagged my piercing and yanked it really hard (and very painfully) a few day prior. The trauma would have been enough to cause it, and it's fairly common from what I can tell. I kept cleaning with sea salt like normal and started putting diluted tea tree oil on it at night and it's already receded a lot. Another week and I expect it to be gone completely.

Let's see... My new Docs showed up and I've begun the oh so fun process of breaking them in. (With only a few blisters as casualties) I've also started reading Terry Pratchett's Discworld series which is a bit daunting considering the 30+ books, but I've decided that if I were a "hero" Rincewind would probably be me and I've formed a severe attatchment to Death, who has a wonderful habit of talking in SMALL CAPS and is absolutely hilarious. The books are so full of satire I couldn't possibly put them down if I tried.

And finally, take a look at my nails! My mom got me these for Christmas and you can't even tell that they're stickers. They're fantastic, now even my fingernails have fishnets.

New Hair

Well I'm just changing everything lately aren't I? One of my resolutions this year was to do something a bit more adventurous with my hair, and now I can scratch that off of my list. I wanted to get rid of some hair so I basically walked into the salon and told my hairstylist to chop it all off. She was terrified, but I think she did a great job despite her...reservations XD I went black because I wasn't too fond of the brown my previous color had faded to and I'm so happy I did. I think it suits me much better. My dad continues to lament over the loss of my blonde hair, but he's going to have to suck it up and get used to this, because I don't see it disappearing any time soon.

I can't stop running my fingers through my short hair, it's such a foreign concept ^^
This is a super short post because honestly I just wanted to show you my new hair. Now I'm off to go watch Megamind with my little brother (I don't normally like animated movies, but that one cracks me up. It's fantastic.) I'll just spam you with pictures of my last outfit to make this seem longer ;)

By far one of my favorite jackets
We had a weirdly cold day, which means I could wear gloves~

30 Day Clothing Challenge~Day 12: A Piece of Jewelry Everyone Compliments you on.

Hey guys! I know it's been a while, but lately I haven't really had enough time to get around to blogging. (Or comment on other people's postss) You'd think I'd be free more often, what with just having Thanksgiving break, but it seems the opposite is true! Also, I used to think that in order to be a good blogger I needed to get a certain amount of posts out so I didn't bore people. Lately, I've realized that's absolute crap. I love all of you followers but I created this blog for myself, to have some fun and connect with other alternatively inclined people. Trying to get a post out every few days is stressful (Remember when Amy at Stripy Tights was churning out a post a day? I don't know how she managed it...) and I want to thoroughly enjoy blogging instead of feeling pressured to get new material on the internet all the time.

Of course, I'm still going to be posting on a pretty regular basis, I absolutely love blogging, I'm just not too concerned if I wait a few extra days here and there. With math kicking my butt and a freed social life now that marching band is over I have a chance to spend time with some real-life friends again. (I'm not gonna be a hermit anymore!) Point is, posts are gonna be a little less frequent but don't think I've abandoned all of you. Definitely not.

So now I'm going to continue with the 30 Day clothing challenge. I'm almost halfway there~ ^^

These three necklaces are the ones I get comments on, probably because they're among the more ordinary/conventional pieces I wear. I've had the star for so long I don't know where I got it. The music note is something I received for my last birthday. The one in the middle is jade and I purchased it at a small store in Vancouver two summers ago when we went on a vacation to Canada.

Please excuse the dog hair. I swear I vacuumed yesterday, but it just comes back!

Also, I dyed my hair! I decided to go really dark brown and I'm so happy I did. I've always loved dark hair and from here I have loads of things I want to do. Undercut...deathhawk...short hair... the possibilities are endless. And then when I get bored of this there's a host of other colors to choose from. Of course, I love this so much that I have a feeling dark hair is going to become my staple. My dad is still complaining about how I got rid of my blond hair, but he's just going to have to get used to it because I might even go black next time.

I still shock myself every time I look in a mirror.
Today's outfit for good measure. I think you might have seen this sweater before...

Finally, I know I've seen this on a blog somewhere before, but I'm going to bring it back. There's this adorable pin-up creator on Deviantart. I spent about an hour creating cute lil versions of myself. This one's my favorite.

Obviously before I changed my hair.

And that's that. I'll probably have something else up in a few days because we're going to the corn maze. I can't wait ^^

30 Day Clothing Challenge~Day 5: Your Favorite Pair of Jeans

Jeans are pretty much a staple in my closet. I would love to wear more skirts and dresses, but I really don't have the money to buy them at the moment. Also, let's be realistic. I wake up at 5 to go to school every day. More often than not I have lazy days. Which require a band shirt and jeans. Of course, that's not to say they have to be boring jeans! True, I normally grab a pair of plain black skinnies, but I have more interesting ones for the days I feel like trying to match things.

Stripes!

These are my I'm-going-to-channel-Beetleguise-pants. They were $10! Far more interesting than my day to day jeans and $20 cheaper! They were down to two pairs on the clearance rack so I was awfully lucky that they had my size. Sometimes it's nice to have extremely long legs ^^

Now I need some advice. I was playing around with my camera and took some pictures. In a few of them my hair ended up looking white.

I've always loved white hair and seeing my hair like this makes me desperately want to dye it that color. The problem with that is, in order to get white hair I'd have to bleach it. It's my understanding that once you bleach hair it blows out the cuticle and makes it much harder for it to retain another color. I know I want to dye my hair black in the near-ish future. But if I went white it would take a really long time to regain my natural color and lots of color correction. (Because if I went black from white it would probably turn gray). What do you guys think? Should I just go for it? Or abandon my desire for white hair and just go straight to my desire for black?

Ah...The Sweet Smell of Formaldehyde in the Morning

Yes, you did read that right. I'll get to the explaining later. First...

New Hair!!
I was running around the house frantically a few minutes ago, trying to find the place with the best light for my laptop. It ended up being my kitchen...XD So its not quite white, but it is really really light. I could get it white if I bleached it, but I'd prefer not to damage my hair so I'm fine with this for now. We'll see about later on.

Not my most attractive angle...

What do you think? Love it? Hate it? I can say its nice to have the hair off the back of my neck now that its summer. (It gets shorter in the back) I won't be dying in the heat and I have a lot of hair so cutting it off of lifted some of the weight off my shoulders. Literally.

I should probably elaborate on the formaldehyde now shouldn't I? Well when my Biology teacher said we weren't dissecting anything this year I was semi-depressed. I find stuff like that fascinating and still consider Medical Examiner as a possible job option.

So when my friend said that her class was dissecting pigs I had a little spazz moment and then dragged her off to ask my teacher if I could help.

He was like this.

But then he decided it was best to let the strange girl be on her way. (Actually he's the coolest teacher I've ever had in my life, and waved me off imperiously.)

I'll spare you the pictures because I'm not sure if anyone wants to see a pig's brain...however it was certainly a learning experience. Unfortunately, the smell of the formaldehyde and other chemicals used to preserve the pigs still hasn't come out of my skin and clothes. *shudder* I hate that smell. The actual dissection process doesn't bother me one bit but I can never get used to the awful odor.

There's an intense vlogging movement going on right now isn't there? I've enjoyed being able to place voices to many of my favorite bloggers. I don't think I'll be joining...I'm too awkward to talk to you guys in person (Well, recording. Same thing.) Not to mention I wouldn't really have time to do it with the family running around the house all the time.

But who knows? Maybe in a few months I'll gather up the courage and jump on the bandwagon :)
