Outfit Dump + Greetings from Jupiter

Well I'm still chillin' over here in West Palm (Jupiter to be more specific. Florida, not the planet.) with nothing much to do. The remnants of the passing tropical storm finally blew over, so that's a relief. I've mostly been lazing about in my PJs and when we've gone out I've just rehashed old things you've seen before, so no new outfits to share this week. On the other hand, I can't seem to stop buying things when I'm out! My parents are going to regret leaving me with money, but there are just so many lovely things over here. I did spend some of the money on my mom and best friend, which eases the guilt a bit. And I managed to separate myself from two lovely scarves at Macy's and a million things at H & M, which I think shows a small degree of self-restraint. *coughs*

Food by the way, has been fantastic. Especially the Seafood. At this one restaurant alone we received Tuna, Duck, Mussels, Goat cheese torritzo(?), and Hog Fish. Suffice to say I was in heaven. And squid ink pasta! I'd never tried that before, but it was lovely.

The pasta was black!
Gelato anyone?

We were at the mall the other day and stumbled across Teavana, where they were giving out free samples. Well I'm not one to say no to fresh, steaming hot tea, no matter how small the sample cup, and wow was it good. They're based in Atlanta so if you reside in the southern states I'd seriously advise checking out their website and seeing if there's something near you. It was so nice to actually purchase a loose leaf brew as well, instead of cheap tea bags from the grocery store. Of course, it's a bit expensive, and I'm sure there's better, cheaper tea to buy, but it was readily accessible so it was worth it to me. I liked the Youthberry a lot, but ended up walking out with Dragonfruit Devotion. Though that may have been a result of the absolutely gorgeous employee in there. No seriously, this guy was smokin' hot. *fans self* And Teavana obviously doesn't care about self-expression on the job considering he had stretched ears and I spotted another Goth working the counter. If she hadn't been busy I would have complimented her ankh ;)

Anyway, I have a few outfits here from right before school ended that I thought I'd share with you guys. I got caught up in Red and Black Week and didn't have a chance to post them.

This shirt is flowy so it's perfect for summer
Bejeweled skulls? Of course I can be cheesy~
I don't own much white, but I love this jacket
I could only wear it because the air-conditioning at school was so cold
New dress! New dress! New dress!
So how about that new Star Trek movie? I can say it certainly made me happy. I'm a pretty big Trekkie/Trekker/Whatever (That debate is so pointless). I've seen all of The Original Series and will defend it to the death, and I catch The Next Generation reruns on TV sometimes. Personally, I think they're doing a pretty decent job with the new movies. Yeah, yeah, "The old stuff will always be the better" and all that jazz, but I'm whole-heartedly enjoying these films as well. I smiled all the way through Into Darkness.

 *SPOILERS*

A lot of people have been complaining about the whitewashing of Khan. Does Hollywood suck for it? Of course. Should they have cast a person of color to play him as the North Indian he's supposed to be? Obviously. I'm irked too. However, I'm also getting slightly annoyed at the people who are so angry that Benedict is white, that they downplay his performance. (Also, I'd like the be able to go on the Into Darkness tag on Tumblr without seeing only text posts and hate spewed left and right. I want GIFS dammit) He got the role because he was a good actor as well, and I think he did a marvelous job.

Point in fact, the new movie was a lot of fun and you should go watch it. There wasn't a boring moment, and sassy Spock is fabulous. Not to mention, there are a lot of parallels with The Wrath of Khan and little Easter eggs in this film. Tribbles anyone?

They know you haven't seen it yet. They're judging you ;)

New Hair

Well I'm just changing everything lately aren't I? One of my resolutions this year was to do something a bit more adventurous with my hair, and now I can scratch that off of my list. I wanted to get rid of some hair so I basically walked into the salon and told my hairstylist to chop it all off. She was terrified, but I think she did a great job despite her...reservations XD I went black because I wasn't too fond of the brown my previous color had faded to and I'm so happy I did. I think it suits me much better. My dad continues to lament over the loss of my blonde hair, but he's going to have to suck it up and get used to this, because I don't see it disappearing any time soon.

I can't stop running my fingers through my short hair, it's such a foreign concept ^^
This is a super short post because honestly I just wanted to show you my new hair. Now I'm off to go watch Megamind with my little brother (I don't normally like animated movies, but that one cracks me up. It's fantastic.) I'll just spam you with pictures of my last outfit to make this seem longer ;)

By far one of my favorite jackets
We had a weirdly cold day, which means I could wear gloves~

Corn Maze

I got on here earlier and realized I hadn't posted anything this month! When I said I wouldn't be blogging as frequently I certainly didn't mean for it to take this long! Anyway, last weekend we took the time to visit a corn maze. It was a lot of fun, though to be honest I was a little disappointed by how short the corn was this year. On the other hand, if it had been taller it probably would have taken three hours instead of one, and considering it was so hot I'm not sure if we would have survived much longer.

A view from higher up

There are people in there...somewhere.

Corn!

There was also a Farmer's market so we ended up buying some jam and corn before we left. I love buying home-grown food, it just tastes so much better ^^ Then we stopped by a bakery to get a treat and the owner recognized my Bauhaus shirt! We ended up chatting for a while about Peter Murphy (She's seen him a bunch, as well as Bauhaus) and about how she doesn't meet many people outside of her generation that have even heard of them. Then she gave me the largest lemon square they had for having excellent music taste.

So what else have I been up to? Well I bought this adorable little hat and found my favorite choker the other day.
Sitting in Spanish class. Fun.

I've started watching Dexter (I don't know if any of you like that show) and I'm already up to season five. It's really good actually.

School has been beyond stressful. I've gone from disliking math to absolutely hating it. The stress is wearing me down and a friend sent me this site to help me out. It's actually more helpful than I thought it would be. So if anyone needs a place to just vent that's the site for you.

There's also this site if you're an artsy type of person. It kept me busy for quite some time ^^

I have a few more posts planned for the near future, especially since xmas is coming up. So don't think I've abandoned you. And all of my new followers, welcome! When I saw I had reached fifty I got this ridiculous smile on my face. You guys seriously made my day.

Weekend in Tampa

I've just realized how behind I am on posts this month. It's all Tumblr's fault! I swear! I refresh my dashboard and suddenly there's enough to keep me occupied for another hour. Of course, being the fangirl I am it turns into several hours and then it's time for bed... *sigh*

This weekend my mom had a triathlon in Tampa so we drove up and spent the weekend there. When we were at a restaurant one of the waitresses with black hair rushed up to me and gushed non-stop about how she'd never seen someone else there (In that specific restaurant) with a Bauhaus shirt and how she'd seen Peter Murphy in concert like 22 times (She might have exaggerated a bit...) ....and then she ran back to work before I could comprehend that I had actually met another goth.  I didn't even get the chance to speak. Damn.

I like Tampa, I really do. People there are so much more open minded than the ones in the Orlando-ish area. I suppose some of it might have to do with the fact that there's a club called The Castle that has a Goth night that seems really cool. And don't hold me to this, but I'm fairly certain Razor Candi used to do something there on Friday nights. Why aren't I clubbing age again? *shakes fist angrily*

Here's a video I found about the club. Just in case anyone is ever around Tampa and wants something to do. All in all, for being an interview for the news this is pretty good.

Now have two outfit posts/pictures of me trying to not be blinded by the sun. The daystar and I are mortal enemies who have been at war for years. I'm losing. If you could see my tan from band....yikes.

I...don't like the beach.
My new band jacket from Trash and Vaudeville.

Do you see my roots coming in there? I'm getting my hair re-dyed this weekend. I'll either keep going blond or go a really, really dark brown. (Because I don't want to go straight to black) I'm a bit conflicted because I've been blond all my life (albeit, not quite that blond) and I'm trying to gather the courage to try something new. We'll see. I just need to make up my mind by the weekend.

Finally, I was browsing the interwebz and came across this interview which just about made my day. Some of the biggest icons of Goth sitting around and discussing Goth. Why have I not seen this before?

Halloween Horror Nights 2012

Well, I'm going to start out by saying that while it wasn't as good as last year's event it was still really fun. The best houses were probably Silent Hill, Gothic, and House of Horrors.  We were smart to go on a Sunday so the lines weren't very long (We waited an hour for The Walking Dead and that was the longest.) which meant we were able to get to all of the houses. The Walking Dead was a bit disappointing and while the Penn and Teller was amusing it wasn't very scary. Dead End was pretty good and I really liked Alice Cooper.

I was a bit disappointed in the moving scarezones to be honest. It was difficult to meet them all and I missed the effort that normally goes into the scenery of the stationary ones. Of course, I can say that now, but in reality I still screamed so much that I'm barely able to talk today. (And my scream...it's unfortunately high pitched, and only attracts other monsters looking for a victim ^^)

Here are a few pictures we managed to get! Nothing is very scary in the daylight of course, (It was light for about the first hour) but everything becomes much more terrifying at night. We also seemed to mostly get pictures of the skeletons...in reality there were many more different kinds of creatures roaming around.

The entrance to the event.

Time to plan our strategy.

A little useful info.

It's amazing how well they can blend in when they want ^^

Standing on those looks extremely difficult...

About halfway through the night we went to Starbucks.
The scareactors invaded unexpectedly.

A couple with matching makeup.

Changing shifts behind a house.
They're covered in cloaks so you can't see what they look like.

The entrance to Alice Cooper.

Mist? Check. Blue light? Check. Chainsaws? Check.

I loved this guy so much ^^

Overall, I had a great time and I'm already looking forward to next year. I bought an Alice Cooper shirt to add to my HHN collection and enough candy to last till Halloween so I'd say it was a fairly successful night ^^

Swedish Picspam!

Well I did it! (I'm only a few weeks late after all...) It took me an hour or so to sort through ALL THE PICTURES, but here are the ones that made it through inspection and to this blog. It was extremely difficult to find non-derpy ones only featuring me and the countryside/city (Depending on where we were.) I don't believe my family wants their pictures up here for all to see so don't think I'm a camera hog. I'm not, I swear ^^

Our trip pretty much went like this.

1) Stockholm
2) Goteborg and surrounding area
3) Summer house at Oland
4) Back to Stockholm

I would give you a map but the massive amount of pictures coming your way is going to clog up enough space on this post. So without further ado...

A ferry off of Stockholm.
I love graffiti when it's tastefully done. It's art, despite what other people think.

We got to go sailing!

An old castle.

The view over Marstrand.

An old fort.

Casual me doesn't like shoes.

Pretending to angst over something that looks suspiciously like a gravestone.

Sailboat races!
We found time to mini-golf ^^
Getting off the Subway.

Can I just reiterate how much I love cities. There are so many different kinds of people everywhere and so many places to shop. (And no money to spend...*cough*) Not to mention, I got to break out some uber-goth outfits every time we went in to Stockholm or Goteborg. (With some exasperated looks from my parents) Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of any of them.  Pretty much all the outfits in this photo set were my casual I'm-on-vacation-and-just-don't-care outfits. Of course. *Smacks self*

The last day we went shopping I picked up a few more things. I got a new leather jacket and an unopened, remastered copy of Pornography by The Cure! *Squeels* It's my favorite album and I couldn't be happier. Of course, I'll be in debt to my parents for at least a year, but we'll ignore that until I see something lovely online and realize how screwed I am.

I've also realized my makeup supplies are running a bit low. Recently, I've been eyeing a few shadows over at moiminerals.  I especially like these three.
